About Me
Adele Rogers Recklies
I have had a career that encompasses both beads and fiber, as well as academic work and creative play. After earning a Ph.D. in theater from The Ohio State University, my husband and I moved to New York City to work in professional theater. My love of knitting has been a life-long passion, but my affair with beads began with my employment in 2 costumes shops that support Broadway and films. A few jewelry classes later and I was hooked, eventually finding my way to bead crochet. I have been fortunate to lecture and teach in various countries, as well as venues in the U.S.A. Some of my beadwork designs have been published in craft magazines, as well as "500 Beaded Objects: New Dimensions in Contemporary Beadwork." My work has also been included in exhibits such as Bead International 2006 at The Dairy Barn Arts Center and 2 shows at Nihonbashi Takashimaya, Tokyo, Japan in 2003 and 2004. If I am not beading, I am making knitted costumes for Broadway shows, film, opera, and dance. It's a busy life but rarely boring.
